3D Design and Printing Support

Offer Help 2469 Lincoln Blvd, Venice, CA, 90291

Safe Place for Youth is a drop-in center and street outreach program for homeless youth ages 12-25, (96% are 18-25) in the Venice area. Last year, over 1,000 homeless youth utilized their support services. Core areas of support are Street Outreach, Case Management, Education and Employment, Drop-in Services, Health and Wellness and Youth Advocacy.

They need 3D design and printing help in their Digital Arts Lab. The lab is used by homeless youth, ages 18-25, on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.

The Digital Arts Lab is a pre-employment space for youth to learn a new skill and engage in a fun project. 3D printing is new to the majority of their youth so they begin by showing them samples of what can be made. Some youth want to create something on their own and others just want to download and print a file. Currently they have a youth who is designing and building a model car one piece at a time…others come one time, just to check it out. The perfect volunteer is someone who is welcoming and helps create a positive experience for each individual youth who utilizes the space.
